Chenrezig (Tibetan: སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་, pronounced Chenrezik) is the embodiment of the compassion of all the Buddhas, and his sadhana (spiritual practice) is one of the most widely practiced in all of Tibetan Buddhism. It’s especially central in the Nyingma, Kagyu, and Gelug traditions, and it’s deeply accessible to both laypeople and monastics.
At its heart, the Chenrezig practice is about developing and deepening bodhicitta—the mind of awakening—rooted in compassion for all sentient beings.
If you're a modern practitioner, especially one navigating a lay life, integrating even a short Chenrezig practice each morning or evening—even five minutes of mantra recitation—can deeply shift your orientation toward a more spacious, empathetic way of being in the world.
