About the Text

Written by Je Gampopa (1079–1153), the great student of Milarepa, The Ornament of Precious Liberation is a complete guide to the Mahayana path, from the nature of mind and the precious human birth through love, compassion, the bodhisattva vow and the perfections, to the fruition of buddhahood.

Gampopa brought together the Kadampa teachings on the stages of the path with the Mahamudra lineage of Milarepa, and his text remains a foundation of study in the Kagyu tradition today.
