SUMMARY:Harbor Light Zen Sangha
DESCRIPTION:Harbor Light Zen Sangha\, located in Annapolis\, Maryland\, is
a welcoming and inclusive community dedicated to the practice of Soto Zen
Buddhism. Rooted in the rich traditions of Zen\, the Sangha offers a seren
e environment for individuals of all backgrounds to explore mindfulness\,
meditation\, and spiritual growth.\n\nThe Sangha emphasizes the practice o
f zazen (seated meditation) as a central pillar of its teachings\, fosteri
ng a deep sense of stillness and awareness. Through regular meditation ses
sions\, Dharma talks\, and retreats\, practitioners are guided in cultivat
 ing a life of presence\, compassion\, and interconnectedness.\n\nHarbor Li
ght Zen Sangha is committed to creating a space where participants can exp
erience the transformative power of Zen practice in a supportive and nurtu
ring environment. The community values simplicity\, authenticity\, and the
direct experience of the present moment\, offering guidance on integratin
g Zen principles into daily life.\n\nIn addition to meditation\, the Sangh
a engages in thoughtful discussions on Buddhist teachings\, ethical living
\, and the challenges of modern life. Harbor Light Zen Sangha also places
a strong emphasis on service\, encouraging members to extend their practic
e beyond the meditation cushion to benefit the wider community.\n\nWhether
you are new to Zen or an experienced practitioner\, Harbor Light Zen Sang
ha invites you to join them in exploring the path of awakening. Together\,
they strive to embody the spirit of Zen and illuminate the way for others
\, like a harbor light guiding ships safely to shore.\n\nWithin the White
Plum Asanga\, after having accepted the 16 precepts\, the first step in ou
r teaching ministry is to be given the rank of “Hoshi” or Dharma Holde
 r. This signifies that the practitioner is authorized to give Dharma talks
and students in private interviews\,\ncalled Dokusan\, under the supervis
ion of their teacher. On May 31\, 2025\, Dr. Josh KuHai Radice will receiv
e Dharma transmission from his teacher\, Sensei Bob JinGen Ertman. At that
time he will be given the rank of “Sensei”\, will be eligible for mem
bership in the American Zen Teachers Association\, and the Sangha will be
recognized by the White Plum Asanga.\n\nFor more on the White Plum Asanga\
